Department of Retirement (DRS)
Eligible employees of Pierce County Government participate in a retirement system administered by the Washington State Department of Retirement Systems (DRS). Employees and the County contribute jointly.
Deferred Compensation Plan
In addition to the Department Retirement Systems, employees have the option to contribute to a IRS 457 deferred compensation plan.
Some employees are eligible for participation in a Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA) / Voluntary Employees Beneficiary Association (VEBA) upon separation from employment.
Department of Retirement Information
DRS offers seminars and workshops which include information about benefits specific to the employee's plan, as well as general retirement information. You can attend in person or they have pre-recorded sessions online.
