Companionship is designed to provide recreation and leisure opportunities for individuals of all abilities and their families.

Get Up and Dance Companionship

Mondays, 6-7 p.m.


Meridian Habitat Park

This FUN inclusive dance class series focuses on participants’dance strengths, talents and potential. Dancers learn basic ballet, fundamentals of tap dance, rhythm, combination steps, center floor work and terminology. Ballet slippers and tap shoes are required. Leotards and tights are optional. Please wear comfortable clothes that allow movement (sweats, leggings, tights, etc.).

*Lisa Goll began dancing at age nine and taught tap, jazz and ballet at a professional dance studio while in high school. She is a mother of four children and her 18 year old daughter has SMA, a form of muscular dystrophy. Through volunteering with the Muscular Dystrophy Association, Lisa has been educated about various types of disabilities and how to adapt to situations in order for it to be positive and inclusive for all.

Color Your World with Art Companionship

Break out the brushes, paints, paper and more.Companionship is introducing a brand new series of inclusive art classes! Participants will learn to express themselves through a wide variety of art media and techniques.All materials are included in the program fee.

*Judy Roesch has a visual arts degree and has taught art for 17 years. As a volunteer art instructor for Very Special Arts of Washington for several years, she has set up a program for artists of differing abilities living in Pierce County.

Companionship Basketball

Introduce your child to the awesome game of basketball. This fully inclusive program will teach how to dribble, shoot, defend, plus the basic rules and etiquette of the game. Each week will start with a skills session learning new skills and building on skills learned the week before.

Learn the basics of racquet sports like pickle ball and badminton in this new inclusive program. We will teach the proper way to hold a racquet, serve, lob, and even volley while having fun in an accepting environment.

Who’s hungry? Learn basic food preparation skills and have a tasty treat in this series of cooking classes. Each week we will learn to prepare several dishes and then finish the night chowing down on our freshly prepared grub. This series will focus on desserts and sweets!

Companionship Flag Football

Heritage Recreation Center

This fun and fully inclusive co-ed program will teach your child the basics of football in a fun, positive, and safe way. Your child will learn how to throw the ball, basic plays, defense, and an amazing touchdown dance! Each week will start out with a skills session and end with a game. Remember this is Flag Football so no tackling. Each participant will wear a flag that the defense will grab to simulate a tackle.

Companionship Monthly Swim Night



Catch up with friends and splash around in the pool during Companionship's monthly swim night. Swim nights are held in Clover Park High School's indoor pool on the first Friday of each month, with some exceptions.
