The bridge, which is located over the North Fork of Muck Creek, will close for about four months starting July 17 while it is replaced with a single span prestressed concrete girder structure. It is expected to reopen in late November.
The 32-foot-long, two-lane bridge is located along 8th Avenue East about a 1/2 mile south of 260th Street East. It is near Spanaway and the southeast area of Joint Base Lewis-McChord.
This project includes a 90 calendar day closure of 8th Avenue East while the bridge is demolished and rebuilt. A detour will guide local traffic around the bridge site.
Northbound traffic will be routed west at 288th Street East, then north onto 8th Avenue South, and east at Rice Kandle Road South to return to 8th Avenue East.
