Maintenance crews will remove gravel from the sediment pond on Swan Creek Park starting June 27. The park entrance at Pioneer Way will be closed for about ten days during this work. The rest of the park will remain open and people can enter the park from East Roosevelt Avenue.
About the Project
Pierce County crews will remove gravel from the pond near the parking area. This maintenance work takes place every one to three years to protect Pioneer Way from flooding during winter storms. Trucks and heavy equipment will transport sediment to stockpiles next to the parking lot.
Pierce County will post signs at trailheads and on either side of the worksite warning park users of the maintenance work and closures. People in the park should use caution around the worksite and follow instructions from the crew.
