Ecology-submittal-ltr-1.pngOn May 31st, 2016,  The Department of Ecology transmitted to Pierce County a summary of comments they received through the course of their public comment process. The County is reviewing those comments and will provide their responses to Ecology. If you have questions on the status of the County’s review, please contact Dave Risvold (253-798-7036).

On March 10, 2015 the Pierce County Council adopted an updated Shoreline Master Program (SMP). The updated SMP contains the policies and regulations that will apply to development activities along Pierce County’s shorelines. On July 1, 2015 the Council transmitted the updated SMP to the Washington State Department of Ecology for their review and approval. The newly updated requirements for shoreline development will become effective 90 days after approval by the Department of Ecology.
