Pierce County Parks issues permits for weddings and special events, picnics, sports field and gym usage, and large public events . You may obtain a permit by phone, by mail or by coming into the Parks Administration Office in Lakewood.

When planning your event, it is very important to contact the Parks Administrative office as early as possible to receive the most current information on the park of your choice.

Our County parks and facilities are for use on a first come, first served basis. Many parks have unique requirements and have different reservation fees and applications.

A large organizational function or special event at our parks will require a Special Use Permit in addition to a reservation application.

If you wish to be guaranteed a site during the summer season, you may want to make a reservation at least two weeks in advance.

  • Rental fees must be paid in full in order to receive a permit.

  • Payment is required upon reservation. Payment may be made by cash, charge, check, or money order. Make checks payable to Pierce County Parks. We accept Visa and MasterCard. Payment of the Reservation fee DOES NOT guarantee your request will be approved. If denied, your fees will be returned.

  • Your reservation is not finalized until reviewed and Pierce County Parks Department issues a permit.

The sooner you call, the faster we can help (253)798-4177. The Parks Adminstrative office can update you on everything from construction schedules and bathroom closures, to noise limitations and reservation deadlines.

Our phone lines may be on a message machine during peak reservation periods because priority is given to walk-in customers. Our office hours are 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday through Friday. After hours, please leave a message and we will return your call. We are located at:

It is important to be on-site early, with your permit in hand.

Vehicle Access:
Parking fees are charged at Lake Tapps and Spanaway Park and are collected upon entering the park.

Alcohol Use:
It is unlawful to possess or drink alcohol in any Pierce County park.
Dogs:
Scoop and leash laws apply! All dogs must be on a leash no longer than 8 feet! Dogs must be under control at all times.
Music/Amplification Systems:
Keep radios and tape/CD players at a sound level that does not go beyond the area you have reserved. The use of amplification sound systems cannot project beyond the area you reserved and requires a Special Use Permit.

DO NOT drive stakes into the ground to set up games: you may hit buried electrical or irrigation lines. Use of stakes requires supervisory approval.
Barbecues:
You are welcome to bring self-contained barbecues into the park, however, they must be on legs a minimum of 4 feet off the ground. You are responsible for safe removal and disposal of the coals and grease outside of the park. Do not dump coals or grease in the parks.
Garbage:
Please leave your area clean and remove your garbage. Bring plastic garbage bags and pack your garbage out!
Misc:
Confetti, hot air balloons, remote control airplanes or vehicles are not allowed in the park. Dunk tanks must have supervisory approval and you must make arrangements to fill off site. Large inflatable toys require supervisory approval and a certificate of insurance.
