We recently changed how we calculate sewer connection charges (a one-time fee to connect to the County's sewer system). The new rates begin January 1, 2011. Existing customers are not affected by the change.
The new simplified calculation combines the previous Frontage, Facility, and Area charges into one flat-fee Basin Charge. The Basin Charge will be updated annually based on the Consumer Price Index. This change will cause both price increases and decreases that reflect a fair-share cost for new sewer construction, collection, and treatment.

The Capacity Charge for treatment at the Chambers Creek Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) will remain unchanged for now. However, after completion of the current WWTP Expansion projects, this charge will likely increase to reflect actual expansion costs.
