If you pay for curbside yard waste collection you can put smaller debris in your yard waste containers throughout the spring. Debris must fit inside the container and is limited to foliage and branches smaller than four inches in diameter. No thick branches, trunks or stumps are allowed in yard waste containers. Any debris or yard waste placed next to a container will not be collected.
Residents and businesses may also haul yard waste to Pierce County transfer stations. Self-hauled yard waste must be smaller than four inches in diameter and cut to four foot (or smaller) lengths. Yard waste which meets the criteria is accepted free-of-charge for composting. Acceptance of larger material which requires additional handling is at the discretion of the private company operating the transfer stations, and may be subject to fees up to the standard disposal fee of $123.29 per ton plus tax. Pierce County advises residents and businesses to cut remaining debris to meet the yard waste criteria.
Illegal Dumping
Remember, it is unsafe and illegal to dump storm debris into public rights-of-way, storm water facilities or other public property. Please call the Pierce County Responds hotline at 253-798-INFO (4636) to report illegal dumping.
