The Pierce County Solid Waste Advisory Committee (SWAC) serves in an advisory and technical capacity to the Pierce County Council and Pierce County Solid Waste Division on matters relating to management of solid waste disposal and recycling services.

The fifteen voting members represent a balance of interests. SWAC members are citizens, members of public interest groups, professionals from the business community, operators of solid waste collection and recycling companies, and representatives of local governments.

The next few years could see many changes to local recycling and waste reduction programs. You can help shape those changes and improvements by becoming a SWAC member.

All interested citizens, especially young adults and business representatives, are encouraged to apply.

The SWAC meets at least quarterly, and members serve a four-year term.

SWAC members are appointed by the Pierce County Executive and approved by the Pierce County Council.
