Child Care Aware

To support families and caregivers, shape policy, and build communities that promote the learning and development of children and youth throughout Washington State through a strong statewide network of local child care resource and referral programs.

Catholic Community Services


Through a network of caring volunteers, the Lifespan Respite Care Program at Catholic Community Services (CCS) offers assistance to low-income persons who are caring for a family member with a chronic illness, disability or the frailties of old age. Relatives raising children are included.

Referral Sources include caregivers who may call directly and request assistance, community organizations, Area Agency on Aging (AAA) Family Caregiver Support Program Specialists, Kinship Navigator Programs and AAA or Aging & Disability Services Home and Community Services or Developmental Disability case managers.

Services include assistance with housework, laundry, yard care, transportation assistance, shopping and minor home repair.

Olive Crest


Olive Crest is dedicated to Preventing child abuse, to Treating and Educating at-risk children and to Preserving the family. Partnerships are developed with local faith communities to provide safe and caring respite/housing for at-risk children.

Safe Families for Children

is an innovative collaboration between area churches, volunteers and child care professionals designed to support at-risk children and parents in need.

Girl Scouts of America


Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence and character who make the world a better place. Girl Scouts is the best leadership development program for girls. Girl Scouts of Western Washington serves more than 26,000 girls in Kindergarten to 12th grade in western Washington with the help of nearly 13,000 volunteers.
Opportunities include:
- Proving activities to young girls
- Summer camping
- Offering respite opportunities

Activities


Children's Museum of Tacoma


The Children's Museum celebrates the power of play in the life-long journey of learning. The museum offers a number of "respite" opportunities including Parent's Night Out and a variety of Summer Camps (June-August).

Community Care Special Needs Camps

Camps provide a therapeutic day camp during school holiday and summer breaks for children needing specialized care due to behavioral difficulties. Events are held in West Seattle.
