Council statement on fallen Deputy Daniel A. McCartney

The Pierce County Council is deeply saddened to learn of the senseless death of Deputy Daniel A. McCartney. There are no words that can adequately express our gratitude for his service to Pierce County, or our sorrow for his loss.

Deputy McCartney lost his life responding to a home invasion call just after 11:30 p.m. Jan. 7, 2018, involving two suspects at a residence on 200th St. E. in the Frederickson area.

The Sheriff’s Department is actively searching the area for one unknown male suspect, possibly wearing dark clothing. The department requests the public call 855-798-8477 with any information on the deputy shooting.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family, friends, and colleagues of Deputy McCartney, whose oath was to serve and protect those in his community.
