Helping Existing Companies Thrive and Grow

One of the ways the Pierce County Economic Development Department supports the business community is by providing loans to small businesses. When businesses are in need of additional capital to complete the financing for a particular project, loan programs like Pierce County’s Community Investment (PCCIC) loan program and the Pierce County Community Development Corporation loan program are available at interest rates comparable to bank rates and in some cases, below market rates. Economic Impact of U.S. Open Shows County Fared Well

Pierce County officials have released the numbers showing the U.S. Open’s economic impact on the county. The financial summary shows Pierce County incurred about $3.9 million in overall expenses and saw just over $5 million in revenue, resulting in a net gain of approximately $1.1 million. The Pierce County Economic Development Department and its partners work together to encourage and assist small, entrepreneurial firms to thrive and grow. In each newsletter, we feature one of these companies.

Wet Coast Brewing Company

Pierce County continues to be a leader in producing not only excellent beers, wines, ciders, and spirits, but also the entrepreneurs whose hard work and long hours make that happen. Founded by owners Bryan & Molly Copeland and Aaron & April Johnson, the newly opened Wet Coast Brewing Company in Gig Harbor continues in that tradition. Several ‘what if?’ conversations started between friends five years ago and jelled into firmer plans eventually producing a three-year business plan and launching a building process that resulted in the oddly named brewery.
