Hello,

There are many public and private organizations doing wonderful work in Pierce County. Today I wanted to share with you a couple of items from this week and some ways you can get involved. As always please feel free to contact me with feedback, questions or concerns.

A Place of Help

The Council yesterday proclaimed April 26, 2017 Domestic Violence Awareness Day. In recognition of today, the Crystal Judson Family Justice Center (FJC) developed this educational and inspiring video about the center and the work they do to help end the cycle of domestic violence in Pierce County.

Visit www.aplaceofhelp.com to find out more about the signs of domestic violence, the services provided by the FJC and how you can donate your time, talent or treasures to help victims and their families.

New name inspires strategic planning with your help

Pierce County Human Services (PCHS) is developing a strategic plan to better serve our community, focus efforts, and guide them to better outcomes – both internally and externally. Your voice matters in this process and your views on the future direction of PCHS is important. We invite you to participate in the strategic planning process by completing a 10-15 minutes web-based survey.

The Pierce County Council, via an ordinance, changed the name from Pierce County Community Connections to Pierce County Human Services. This name change more accurately reflects the varied and important work PCHS does across the nearly 50 programs they provide and administer. And while their name has changed, they have not changed their passion to make things better.

Your thoughts, ideas, and suggestions will be used to help better serve you and the community. The survey is now open. It will close on Monday, May 8 at 5:00 p.m. The link is below.
