Meetings on Chambers Bay Resort Ground Lease

The future of Chambers Bay and Chambers Creek Properties will be decided by the County Council.

The Ground Lease Agreement is the agreement and terms between a local development group and the County on the development of the Chambers Bay Resort project. The development is to be built on land that was set aside for this purpose but it now has language that affects all of the Chambers Creek Properties. The development includes long term rentals, the loss of and replacement of the 9th tee box, as well as the potential to sell this resort in the future taking it out of County jurisdiction.

This agreement will be introduced in the Pierce County Council's Community Development Committee on Monday, March 18 at 1:30 p.m. in the County Council Chambers. The committee intends to discuss the ground lease agreement again on April 1 at 1:30 p.m. in Council Chambers. I will also be holding an in-district Council meeting at 6:00 p.m. on April 16 at the Environmental Services Building. If needed we could have another committee meeting on April 29. The final vote on the ground lease agreement is anticipated for May 7, at our regular 3:00 County Council meeting. I will post update to date meeting schedule information on my webpage at

The public is encouraged to attend any and all of these meetings with an opportunity for public comment. The in-district is designed specifically for public input. There will be a presentation by staff as well as the developer.  We need to protect this very important asset now and for our future.
